John E. 'Jack' Flynn

John E. “Jack” Flynn, Sr., 81, of Mason, OH passed away with his family at his side on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Jack was born in Ewing Township, NJ to Edward and Ann Flynn in 1938.

Jack was the beloved husband of Mary (nee Dee) Flynn for over 57 years. Devoted father of Peggy Flynn, Kate Flynn, Jack (Karen) Flynn, Jr., Tim (Carlina) Flynn, Mary Ellen (Philip) Flynn Clark, Ed Flynn, Con (Elizabeth) Flynn, Joseph G. Flynn, Kerry (Rob) Flynn Atkinson and Clair Ann Flynn; loving grandfather of Ryan Rovere, Macy Flynn, Maya Flynn, Ellie Flynn, Tobit Flynn Atkinson, Silas Flynn Atkinson, Annika Flynn, Conor Flynn and Kian Flynn; dear brother of Ann Flynn, Clair (Lionel) Kuhn, Dan (Cindy Gray) Flynn, Leo (Joyce) Flynn and the late Edward Flynn; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was a loving and caring husband, father and especially grandfather. His family came first in everything he did. He was proud to take his family on vacations to the Jersey Shore where he spent many happy summers growing up. He had a passion for reading, music, playing the mandolin with his band “Livin’ for Tuesday” and watching all types of sports, especially Notre Dame Football and the Philadelphia Flyers. Jack loved to share a wise and witty tale about his many life adventures and was always ready with a clever quip that was sure to get a hearty laugh. He retired from General Electric Aircraft Engines as the Program Manager for Advanced Military Programs after 18 years. Jack was a proud graduate of Notre Dame’s class of ’61, and it was there that he met Mary, the love of his life. After he retired, a special time for Jack and Mary was their Thursday coffee dates where they’d sit and reminisce about their wonderful life together. He will be greatly missed by many.

Memorial Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church, West Chester, OH on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place before the mass from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
