JOHN RICHARD MILLER

On Monday, May 31, 2021, John Richard (Dick) Miller, age 72, passed away unexpectedly in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dick, better known as Dickie to friends and family, was born in Charleston, WV on April 16, 1949. He was the youngest son of John Glendon and Lillian Trepaso Miller. Dick was a graduate of Dupont High School class of 1967 and WV State College. On May 29, 1971, Dick married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Rebecca Susan (Becky) Moore of Malden, WV. Together, they had the joy of celebrating 50 years of loving marriage. For many years, Dick and Becky and their daughters made their home in Dupont City before relocating to Cincinnati in 1990. He retired from the Kroger Company in 2011 after 25 years of service.

In Dick’s free time, he enjoyed reading, listening to Doo wop music, drinking milkshakes and cruising around in his Corvette. An avid sports fan, he loved all sports, especially his WVU Mountaineers. Above all else, he lived for time spent with his family and enjoyed many family vacations. Dick loved his family fiercely and was devoted to ensuring their happiness and well-being. Everything Dick did was for his family. He was their greatest protector and the foundation of their family. Dick was never happier than when he was surrounded by his dearest loved ones, wife Becky, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Dick gave his life to Jesus Christ, our savior. He embodied profound humility, empathy and compassion for others and lived his life with deep gratitude for all of his many blessings.

Dick is survived by his wife, Becky Miller of Kings Mills; daughter Mindy Miller and husband Neil Myers of Tampa, FL; daughter Stacey Beckelhymer, husband Ryan Beckelhymer, and grandchildren Braden and Lyla Beckelhymer of Hamilton, OH with whom he had a very close and special relationship as their “Poppy.” Other survivors include his brother in law, Samuel R. Moore and wife, Martha, of Charlotte, NC. Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 with a celebration of life memorial service to follow. The service will be officiated by his lifelong friend, Jack Whitt, of Charleston, WV.

Dick had a servant heart and gave generously to many charitable organizations over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dick’s memory be made to Freestore Food Bank of Cincinnati, https://freestorefoodbank.org, Samaritan’s Purse, https://www.samaritanspurse.org or another worthy charity of your choice.
