Joseph Vincent Cesaitis

February 9, 1949 — November 15, 2024

Joseph Vincent Cesaitis, 75, of Mason, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 15th, 2024.

Joe was born on February 9th, 1949 to Joseph and Elsa Cesaitis in New York. Growing up with his twin brother Eddie in Queens and later Brooklyn, Joe developed a passion for baseball and mechanical engineering. He earned his undergraduate degree from Pratt Institute and a Master's from George Washington University, leading to a distinguished career in electrical engineering. He served at the Federal Communications Commission before joining the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. His most treasured role was being a Grandpa to Damian, Jordan, Charlotte, and Caleb.

A devoted father to Ryan and Lexie, Joe was known for coaching little league, managing carpools, and sharing his legendary dad jokes - always being his own best audience. His encyclopedic knowledge of 1950s and 60s music won him numerous trivia contests, as he could identify any song from just a few notes, complete with release date and record label.

In 2009, Joe married Andrea Bender, whom he met at APL. They retired to Mason, OH, where he rekindled his love for model trains, creating elaborate tracks with intricate lighting and sound systems. His constant curiosity and humble nature led him to often reflect on his journey from Brooklyn, amazed at where life had taken him. Joe will be remembered for his gentle spirit, infectious laugh, and generosity toward anyone in need.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elsa. He is survived by his wife Andrea Bender; son Ryan and daughter-in-law Angela of Tampa, FL; daughter Lexie and son-in-law Michael Fleming of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Damian and Jordan Cesaitis, Charlotte and Caleb Fleming; brother Edward Cesaitis, sister-in-law Martha of Yonkers, NY, and niece Madeline.
