Joseph Marafino

October 29, 1947 — May 2, 2021

Joseph Anthony Marafino , 73 of Lebanon passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Born to Felix and Margaret Marafino in Rochester, New York.
Joseph graduated from SUNY at Brockport with his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1969. He furthered his education by earning his Master’s in Education from Arizona State University in 1978, and his Doctorate in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 1991. Joseph believed in higher education, he enjoyed helping young people find their passion and achieve their goals.

Joseph had a strong faith in God and was very actively involved in every church he attended throughout his adult life in both full time and volunteer roles. He led various ministries and organizations was passionate about making people feel welcome wherever he served. He was also huge supporter of the University of Notre Dame and an avid fan of Notre Dame football. He was so proud to say his daughter Michelle attended and graduated from Notre Dame. In his earlier years he enjoyed skiing, bicycling, and playing golf.

At the end of the day spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite thing to do. His faith and his love for people were the inspirations for everything he did in life.

Preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Margaret Marafino, his nephew, Ron Weaver and niece, Joann Marafino Hughes.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances (nee Brucculeri) Marafino of Lebanon, daughter, Michelle (Bradley) Brol of Lebanon, two grandsons, Luca and Matteo Brol of Lebanon, two siblings, Frank Marafino of Rochester, New York and Marie (Lester) Weaver of Mesa, Arizona, nieces and nephews, Frank Marafino Jr, Margaret (Billy) Chalmers, Patricia Wilson, Richard (Beth) Weaver, and his extended Marafino Family of Syracuse, NY. Joseph is also survived by close friends, the Montanarello Family, Stornelli Family and many more extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Crossroads Mason Chapel at 990 Reading Road in Mason on Monday May 10 at 1:30 PM with a family visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Please be advised that face coverings are required during the celebration. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joseph’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, The University of Notre Dame Monogram Club, or to Teen Challenge of Arizona.
