Kevin E. Kleis

Kevin Edward Kleis (43) passed away on July 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a brave two and a half year battle with cancer. Kevin was born on August 30, 1980, to parents Ed Kleis and Lila Kleis. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated from DeSales High School in 1999.

Kevin attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he studied Public Relations and was a member of the Beta Fraternity. He went on to pursue an education degree from Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 2010. He became a beloved teacher in Clermont Northeastern and Kings Local School District in Ohio for over 15 years where he also coached both softball and golf.

Kevin met the love of his life, Tracy, while attending EKU and they married in 2006. Together they built a beautiful life raising two daughters, Taylor and Maddie, and a son, Beau.

The amazing legacy Kevin leaves behind as a husband, father, son, brother, friend, and coach is unmatched. Kevin was someone everyone loved to be around. He had a gift of bringing people together with his fun-loving nature and genuine care for every person blessed to cross his path. His enthusiasm, positive energy, humility, strength, and great sense of humor is imprinted on the hearts of all he knew. His light shone and inspired, even through the pain of his cancer battle. Kevin was a devoted husband and dedicated father. He loved and led his family well and played an active role in his children’s lives, coaching them in softball and cheering them on in every endeavor and milestone. Through teaching and coaching, he won the hearts of many, many students and colleagues, mentoring and inspiring countless young minds. Kevin’s impact on students and families in his community is a legacy that will endure. His is a treasured life taken too soon that will be deeply missed and remembered always.

Kevin’s loving spirit is carried on and held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife, Tracy; his children, Taylor (16), Maddie (13), and Beau (9); parents, Ed Kleis and Lila Kleis; brother, Justin Kleis (Christy); in-laws, Asher Athy II and Patricia Ann Athy; brother-in-law, Asher Athy III; nephew, Isaac (12).

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5-8pm at Rivers Crossing Church. A funeral service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at Rivers Crossing Church, located at 5937 Kings Island, Mason, OH. Following the service, Kevin will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery. As a tribute to Kevin, please wear Kentucky blue to the visitation to represent his favorite team.
