Laverne Stockham, a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on October 31, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Laverne lived a life of dedication and love. Laverne was a graduate of Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and Mercy School of Nursing in Hamilton, Ohio. Laverne was a Registered Nurse who devoted over 40 years to her profession, primarily in geriatric care. Her leadership and expertise led her to serve in various positions at nursing homes throughout her career. Beyond her professional achievements, Laverne enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She found much joy in the company of her children and grandchildren.
Laverne married her beloved husband George Stockham on June 11, 1966. Together, they raised two children, Jill (Christopher) Sibila and Scott (Lakshmi) Stockham. She adored her grandchildren: Alexander (Mallory) Sibila, Matthew Sibila, Zachary Sibila, Shaili Stockham, and Jaya Stockham.
Her memory will be honored by her siblings, Robert Mattscheck and Charlene Sanders, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, George and Verna (nee Ward) Mattscheck, and her brothers, Roger and Gregg Mattscheck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 14, at 4:00pm, at St. Susanna Catholic Church, located at 616 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Southwest Ohio, recognizing the compassionate care they provide.
