MARY H. GLISSON, AGE 97,
PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT OTTERBEIN NURSING FACILITY IN LEBANON, OHIO, ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 17. KNOWN AS BETTY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS, SHE WAS BORN IN 1923 AND LIVED MOST OF HER LIFE IN NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA. FOURTEEN YEARS AGO, SHE MOVED TO OHIO TO BE NEAR HER SON BILL AND HIS FAMILY.
BETTY WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HER SON RICKY AND GRANDSONS BILLY GLISSON AND MATTHEW GLISSON. BETTY IS SURVIVED BY SON BILL GLISSON (ANNE), GRANDDAUGHTER AMY POWELL (ANDY), GRANDSON COREY GLISSON (KIM), GRANDDAUGHTER KATIE JOHNSON (BRETT), NIECE BARBARA HAMILTON (ALAN), AND NEPHEW JOHN SCHOENING (BETH). IN ADDITION, SHE WAS BLESSED WITH FOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
BETTY GREW UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND CAME OF AGE DURING WORLD WAR II. WHILE SHE HELD MANY JOBS DURING HER LIFETIME, THE LONGEST AND MOST REWARDING WAS SERVING AS DEPUTY PROTHONOTARY IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA AND TAKING PART IN NUMEROUS NATURALIZATION CEREMONIES.
UNTL MOVING TO OHIO, SHE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR, AN APPENDANT ORGANIZATION TO THE MASONS AND AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN NORRISTOWN. SHE WAS MOST RECENTLY A MEMBER OF FAIRMONT PRESBYTERIAN CURCH IN DAYTON, OHIO.
SHE WAS KNOWN FOR HER SENSE OF HUMOR AND THE TELLING OF MANY STORIES TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY. IN ADDITION, SHE LOVED WATCHING FOOTBALL AND WAS A FAN OF PENN STATE, THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, AND THE CINCINNATI BENGALS.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, PLEASE CONSIDER A DONATION TO YOUR LOCAL HOSPICE.
