Mary Phelan

Mary Phelan (nee DelVecchio), of Maineville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Bethesda North Hospital Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 94. She was born Sunday, May 31, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts to Nicola and Juditha (nee Marcello) DelVecchio.

At the young age of 89, Mary retired from Macy's having worked over 25 years as the representative for Ralph Lauren. Mary would argue, her most important and rewarding job was taking care of her family. Their home was always filled with the fragrant aromas of homemade Italian delicacies. Mary also enjoyed sewing but nothing brought a smile to her face like being on the beaches of the East Coast.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents, Nicola and Juditha (nee Marcello) DelVecchio; husband, Jeremiah Phelan; and son, Mark Phelan.

Mary is survived by: daughter, Lynne (Dave) Lapham; son, Jay (Donna) Phelan; grandchildren, Dave (Casandra) Lapham, Sarah (Tom) Sicking, Courtney (Jim) Root and Caitlin (Scott) Faughn; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Camdan Lapham, Gabrielle and Casey Sicking, Seamus Declan, Ronan Root, & Phelan Faughn; sisters, Antoinette Mitchell and Phyliss Clarke; brother, Nicholas DelVecchio; and many loving family members and friends.

The family is honoring Mary's wishes for a private service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
