Mary Ann Zindel (nee Haas), of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the age of 77. She was born Monday, June 2, 1941 in Lockland, Ohio to William V. and Elizabeth (nee Wilz) Haas.
At the young age of 21, Mary Ann married her soldier, Charles E. Zindel, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Reading, Ohio. Serving in the Army required the couple begin their lives together in Germany. Together, they would raise their three children and welcome eight grandchildren. While the family called many different states and several countries "home", one thing that never changed was Mary Ann's unwavering love and affection for her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary Ann faithfully served alongside Charles while he was in the United States Army, undertaking the housekeeping, child care, meal preparation, everyday tasks in addition to participating in the "required" functions. And she managed to do it with a gracefullness and smile to be admired.
The family has many fond memories of the camping trips they took. Mary Ann always loved reading a good mystery with her favorite author being Agatha Christie. In fact, she was known to read the same book several times. Mary Ann also enjoyed keeping her mind active while completing hundreds of cross-word puzzles.
