Matthew J. Nowakowski, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, June 19, 2020 at the age of 94. He was born Thursday, June 3, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Matthew and Mary (nee Adamski) Nowakowski.
An honorably discharged veteran, Matthew served in the United States Air Force. He married his best-friend and life-long sweetheart, Dolores B. Gimpel, on June 23, 1951 at St. Boniface in Philadelpha. The next 69 years were filled with creating memories filled with lots of laughter and love.
With a love of outdoors, Matthew appreciated a good game of golf. He met many good friends while playing on a league. Matthew even shot a hole-in-one as he and Dolores were out playing one of many holes together.
Matthew was preceded in death by: parents, Matthew and Mary Nowakowski; and sisters, Mary Bertsch, Veronica Trinkle, and Josephine Lech.
Matthew is survived by: wife, Dolores Nowakowski; children, Mary Beth (Phil) Cox, Michaela (Jim Barry) Nowakowski, Ellen (Greg) Humphrey, and John (Cheryl) Nowakowski; grandchildren, Jason Cox, Stacey Cox, Amanda Harding, Noah Shumaker, Maddy Johnson, Bernadette Shumaker, Ryan Barry, Olivia Nowakowski, Peter Beilewech, Matthew Beilewech, Ben Humphrey and Mary Beth Gatliff; and other loving family members and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later time when the family can safely celebrate this special man's life
Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
