Maxine Patrick

August 5, 1920 — December 23, 2021

Maxine Patrick (nee Crase) , age 101, of Maineville, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Born to Andy and LucyBelle (nee Elam) Crase on August 5, 1920, in Morgan County, Kentucky.

Preceded in death by her husband, McCoy Patrick, her daughter Juanita Patrick Richter, thirteen siblings—Grover Crase, Boyd Crase, Beatrice Crase, Hazel Crase, Mort Crase, Leburn Crase, Eliza Crase Lovely, Hettie Crase Taulbee, Savannah Crase Patrick, Kiser Crase, Leslie Crase, Custer Crase, Faye Crase Hatton.

Maxine is survived by her loving daughter, Norma Seto, seven grandchildren, Matthew (Patty) Seto, Kelly (Jeff) Neal, Bethany (Robert) Mueller, Dennis (Nancy) Richter, Diane (Blaine) Bacher, Debbie (Clay) Rettig and Dale McCoy Richter, thirteen great grandchildren, Hero Seto, Max Seto, Nathan Mueller, Ian Richter, Nicholas Bacher, Sydney Bacher, Taylor Maxine Bacher, Bailey Bacher, Lillie Bacher, Mason Rettig and Elliana Rettig, Perry (Whitney) Neal, Jared Neal, and one great-great-grandson Eli Neal, son-in-law, Gary Richter and one sister, Thelma Raye Haddix. Also survived by Kenneth Stephens whom she watched grow up and she called ‘the son she never had.' Survived by countless friends, nieces and nephews whose attention and love she cherished.

Maxine was a member of the Wheelrim United Baptist Church in Morgan County Kentucky and a member of Eastern Star. In her more active years she volunteered at the West Liberty Hospital in Morgan County and wrote a local (Hager, Ky) news column for the Salyersville Independent. In recent years, her first impression was that she was "just a sweet little old lady." But she would agree: that does not do justice to her memory. She took charge of almost every situation she encountered. She was a natural beauty with a friendly smile, and with that smile came a sassy, feisty, and witty personality. She didn’t hold back when it came to defending the underdog, correcting a kid, or giving advice to anyone who asked for it (or not). She was known for being a talented quilter and worked on piecing quilts right up to her final days. She loved to travel and would brag of having visited all of the continental United States. She enjoyed playing board games and card games and her competitive streak was legendary. She did not hesitate to boast about being a good shot and it was unwise to bet against her in a shooting challenge. Above all, Maxine was a firm believer in God and maintained a high moral standard for herself and her family. When asked the secret to a long life, she would say: Serve the Lord. Stay busy. And stay happy.
