Melvin Elswick

Melvin Elswick passed away peacefully Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the age of 76 at Central Parke Alzheimer's Special Care Center. He was born Tuesday, March 23, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

On January 13, 1961, Mel's life would change forever. He met the love of his life, Dorene M. Carstedt. They married January 13, 1962, exactly one year later, at Mason Presbyterian Church. Together, they built a beautiful life which included two sons, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mel and Dorene also lived in The Villages of Florida for 12 years.

Mel retired from Ford Motor Company as a Supervisor. As a simple man, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was the kind of man that would do anything to help a friend out whether it was reroofing a home or loaning out a tool. Mel took pleasure in making life better for others.

Taking full advantage of his hard work, Mel enjoyed his retirement. It was not unusual for him to be golfing or fishing 5 days a week or more. He will be forever remembered and missed by all that knew and loved him.

Melvin was preceded in death by: father, Harold J. Elswick; brother, Darryl Elswick; sister, Cheryl Sue Stevens; step-father, Jim Thomas; and mother-in-law, Jewel Brunk.

Melvin is survived by: wife of 57 years, Dorene Elswick; sons, Jamie (Leslie) Elswick and Jon (Tina) Elswick; grandchildren, Jonathan (Stephanie) Elswick, Joshua (McKenna) Elswick and Nikki Elswick; great-grandchildren, Aiden & Lydia Elswick, Blaize & Kai Elswick, and Levi Thompson; mother, Louise Thomas; step-brothers, Jack Thomas and Mike (Trudy) Thomas; sister-in-law, Gayle Lowe; brothers-in-law, Ted Stevens, Dennis (Susi) Brunk and Ed (Mary Jane) Brunk; and many loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. A light luncheon will immediately follow at the Mason Grange Hall, 209 Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
