Nancy J. Svoboda

Nancy J. (nee Jones) Svoboda, recently of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Wednesday July 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Monday December 7, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to Harold G. and Katherine (nee Lappe) Jones.

Nancy attended Mt. Lebanon High School and went on to graduate from Swarthmore College. Nancy worked in the advertising industry and later volunteered her time at various organizations including St. Margaret Memorial Hospital, Cooper-Siegel Community Library, and Guyasuta Garden Club while raising her children and having fun with her grandchildren.

Nancy often underestimated her many talents which included painting, gardening, and playing the piano. She was an avid reader and subscriber to the arts and was rarely without a dog by her side. Her sassy sense of humor won over friends and family to the end. Nancy will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Nancy was preceded in death by: parents, Harold and Katherine Jones; and husband, Joseph J. Svoboda.

Nancy is survived by: children, Barbara (John) McClay, J. Jesse Svoboda, and Stephen (Christina) Svoboda; grandchildren, Meredith (Zach) Bechtle, Alexandra, Bryn, Mason, Casey, and Brook McClay, Peter & Samuel Svoboda, and Sydney & Cameron Svoboda; and a host of loving family members and friends.
