Nathan “Nate” Michael Schaufele, age 21, passed away on December 6, 2024 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Born on January 24, 2003, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Michael and Sarah (Sakmyster) Schaufele. Nate was a proud graduate of Mason High School, Class of 2021, where he not only excelled academically but also found joy in athletics, participating in cross country and wrestling. He was currently pursuing Chemical Engineering studies at the University of Alabama. Nate had a passion for gaming, particularly enjoyed playing Xbox, and was known for his generosity—often surprising others with thoughtful gifts. Nate was a devoted brother to his sister Ainsley, and he had an innate ability to accept and embrace everyone for who they were. His spirit of advocacy for others and his unwavering friendship and kindness made a lasting impact on those who knew him. He is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Sarah Schaufele; sister, Ainsley Schaufele and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Diane Sakmyster. He is also remembered by his aunts and uncles, Susan Cornett, James Cornett, Heather Kohar, Bill Schaufele, Kim Eye, and Eric Eye, along with his cousin Lillian Eye. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Patricia and William Schaufele Sr. A visitation will take place at Crossroads Church Mason on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 10:00am-12:30pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Mueller Funeral Home.
