Nicolette R. Cozzi

February 24, 1937 — August 10, 2020

Nicolette "Nikki" (nee Palmiero) Cozzi, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2020, at the age of 83. She was born February 24, 1937, in Rome, NY, to Louis and Jen (nee Spitrino) Palmiero. After graduating from Rome Free Academy, she began working at Griffiss AFB, where she met her husband, Martin "Bucki" Cozzi, an Air Force Officer.

As a military family, Nikki and Bucki were transferred to many Air Force bases across the U.S., while they were raising their family. Most of Nikki's life as a military wife was spent at McCoy AFB in Florida and Plattsburgh AFB in Northern NY. She enjoyed any activity that involved her family, spending countless hours with them at the beach in Florida, and boating, water skiing and snow skiing in Plattsburgh, NY.

Nikki will be remembered most for her love of family and unwavering strength. She was a nurturing, caring and loving mother, even through the extended periods with her husband stationed overseas. The last 20 years of her life were spent fighting Multiple Sclerosis and other health issues. She still lived a life centered on family. She overcame mobility challenges to be there for her children and grandchildren. Nikki never complained about her situation, and maintained a great sense of humor, despite it all. Her strength and fortitude will continue to inspire her family for years to come.

Nikki was preceded in death by: parents, Louis and Jen Palmiero; husband, Martin "Bucki" Cozzi; and brother, Louis "Skip" Palmiero.

Nikki is survived by: children, Martin (Lori) Cozzi, Steve Cozzi, Chris (Marian) Cozzi, and Lora (John) Spizzirri; brother, Leonard "Lanny" (Bonnie) Palmiero; grandchildren, Brandon (Amy) Cozzi, Alicia (Jeff) Adams, and Miranda (Steve) Gress, Nicholas Cozzi, Jake Spizzirri and Anna Spizzirri; great-grandchildren, Ben and Luke Adams, Adam and Taylor Cozzi, Matthew, Madison and Isabella Cozzi; and many loving family members and friends.

Services will be held privately for the family.
