Paul Kessis

Paul A. Kessis, age 96, fell asleep in the Lord on March 8, 2025. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 22, 1928, to the late Adam and Corina Kessis, both immigrants from Greece. 

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy (nee Demakes) Kessis, his son, David Kessis, and his brother Ted Kessis. He is survived by son, Nicholas Kessis; daughter, Ginny (Rev. Mark) Emroll; and granddaughters Maria (Patrick) La Mar and Thea (Brad) Stapleton. Also survived by sister Mary (Kurt) Bofinger, several cousins, nephews, nieces, and goddaughter Maria (Jim) Papakirk. Also predeceased by goddaughter Tina Petrou Moller. 

Paul graduated from Withrow High School and attended the University of Cincinnati before serving in the U.S. Air Force. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he served on rescue missions and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he pursued a diverse career, including owning the Hitching Post restaurant, working for the Cincinnati Water Works and the Hamilton County Zoning Department. 

Paul was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity - St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. In his younger years, he sang in the church choir where he met his lovely wife Dorothy. Paul had a wonderful voice and could often be heard singing a tune. He enjoyed spending time with his family and road trips to visit his grandchildren. He shared his son Nick’s passion for thoroughbred horses. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14 at 9:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity - St. Nicholas Church, 7000 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery.
