Paul Anthony Mormile

Paul Mormile, of Mason, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly January 21, 2021 at the young age of 52. He was born November 26, 1968 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Paul Edward and Carla Marie (nee Clausen) Mormile.

Paul grew up in Mt. Airy and attended LaSalle High School where he played football, wrestled and excelled at weightlifting. He went to Cincinnati State for a business degree he used as a self-employed pharmaceutical courier who delivered to nursing homes where he enjoyed interacting with the employees as well as the residents. He was proud to be considered an essential worker during the Covid19 pandemic and took his responsibilities seriously. His death was not COVID-19 related.

Paul was always a big guy pretty much from birth. A couple years ago, he decided to find a way to lose weight and get healthy. He lost more than 200 pounds and was the happiest he had been in years. He loved being with his boys, Will and Jake and had recently taught them to fish, something that he enjoyed growing up. He was also an avid football fan, most notably for Ohio State. He and his son Will shared a special affinity for college as well as pro football where they bonded on a regular basis. He enjoyed playing various games with his son Jake and often took a major whooping as a result.

Paul was a loving son, awesome brother and Funkle (fun uncle) to his nephew Jason Bohrer. Paul often took Jason under his wing while growing up and in later years they seemed more like brothers. Jason was his "practice" kid before he had his own sons. Paul had the patience of a saint and heart of gold.

Often quiet, Paul had a wicked dry sense of humor and would often post hilarious thoughts and comments on his Facebook page much to the delight of his followers. He was a kind soul who would take the time to talk to residents at nursing homes, help his neighbors and check in on friends and family. He was a skilled cook and was especially fond of using his smoker and grill, often posting recipes and photos online that made the rest of us hungry or jealous.

Paul often worked evenings while his children were young so he could be with them during the early years. He and Michelle never had to employ sitters or day care because they worked together to raise their kids themselves. After the kids were old enough, he worked during the day and spent time with them in the evening or attended their extracurricular activities that included sports and musical events.

Paul loved woodworking where he honed his craft and produced highly sought after cutting and charcuterie boards, intricate boxes, beautiful furniture, fun yard games as well as many items that included the name and logos of favorite sports teams. He was a proud member of the Maker community where he met and fostered many friendships with like-minded craftspeople.

He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Carla Mormile; and sister, Dianne Schraer.

Paul is survived by sons, William Mormile and Jacob Mormile; sister, Roxanne (Michael) Brett; nephew, Jason Bohrer; the mother of his children, Michelle Witt Mormile; and many other loving family members, countless cousins and dear friends.

Private services have taken place. A celebration of life service will be planned for late May when it will be safe to gather outdoors and memorialize one of the good guys who was taken from us far too soon.
