Rebecca Herkert

Rebecca Catherine Herkert, 79 of Cincinnati, passed away on January 2, 2024. She was born to Frank and Iva (nee Putman) Lehmkuhl on November 7, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was one of fourteen children.

On a cold and snowy New Year's Eve in 1966, Rebecca met the love of her life, Curtis George Herkert, at a party of mutual friends.  The road conditions provided the perfect opportunity for this new couple to have a night-long conversation.  A month and half later, the couple decided to marry, making their vows to each other on June 3, 1967.  It wasn't long before the family began to grow, and they began to welcome their three children.

Rebecca had a generous heart.  Whether it was a neighbor or a family from the giving tree at church, she enjoyed giving what she could to those less fortunate. She had a true heart of gold.

She was a loving mother and wife, who became known as Grandma Owl, lovingly by her grandchildren, as she had an extensive collection of owls.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, especially to Siesta Key, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Roberta McKinney, Raymond Lehmkuhl, Rachel Horton, Roselinda Woodward, and Regina Stulce.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Cathi (Keith) Menter, Christina (Jerry) Schul and Curtis (Dawna Fox) Herkert, grandchildren, Kinsey (Eric), Connor, Keagan, Catelyn, Hunter, Odessa, and Winter (Tristan); great-grandchildren, Keeleigh, Elliott, Aletha, and Lisa, many other siblings and nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 8th from 11:00-12noon with a prayer service at 12noon all at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
