Richard Beitler

Richard S. “Sam” Beitler passed away peacefully on June 16 in Mason. He was a long-time resident of the Christian Village at Mason, and he and our family have been so grateful for this wonderful, caring community.

Born in Columbus, OH, Sam was a graduate of the Ohio State University and had a distinguished career of more than 40 years as a mechanical engineer with General Electric. Following his retirement, he was an active volunteer and Board member for many years at Millcreek Valley Habitat for Humanity. An avid golfer, his lifelong love affair with the game began when he played his first ever round with his father on VJ Day, and both the game and his golfing friends enriched his life over the decades since. It always seemed right that one of his best-ever rounds was played at St. Andrews in Scotland with his family looking on.

Sam was a dedicated member of the community at Christ’s Church of Mason, and especially valued his Sunday School classmates. A dedicated and loving husband and father, he taught and demonstrated the Golden Rule throughout his life, and he will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by friends and family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel, and Katherine (nee Lathouse) Beitler, his first wife, Fontella M Ross and his second wife, Henrietta Dawson.

Sam is survived by his son, William S. “Bill” (Teresa) Beitler, and grandchildren, Abigail, Madelyn, and Isabelle Beitler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24th from 10:00-11:00AM with a funeral service at 11:00AM all at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sam’s name to Christian Village of Mason.
