Richard K. Lau, 80 of Mason, passed away on April 1, 2025. Born to Robert Jr and Thelma (nee Spencer) Kaupu on February 17, 1945, in Hilo, Hawaii.
Richard was known to many as Pineapple. He was a quiet man with a kind heart and a hilarious laugh. He had a handsome smile and was the type of person you wanted in your presence.
Pineapple was an avid golfer, had a passion for shooting pool an even traveled the United States with his wife as a true pool shark. He loved a good card game or computer game and trips to Monroe Casino with his family. Back in his days in Hawaii he was involved with all sports.
Nothing made him happier than being with his family, especially on a weekend, in the sunshine with a cold beer in hand.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Kaupu, his siblings, Randall and Roberta and his beloved mother-in- law, Marjorie Smith.
Richard is survived by the person he shared his life with for 33 years, his loving wife, Linda Lau (nee Smith), his children, Randa Lynn, Reinette, Robert, Richard, Roxanne, Ryan, Logan, Miriam and Hiram, siblings, Suki (Sandy), Bull (Donna), Butchie (Joy), Renell (Greg), Rochelle (Harold) and Radford, twenty-five grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held privately with family.
