Richard Lee West

Richard Lee West , age 84, passed away peacefully the evening of August 27, 2024, at the Barrington of West Chester.  He was born to the late Ralph A. and Alice Mae (King) West on September 11, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Richard was a United States Army Reserve veteran and later retired as a teacher from Great Oaks Vocational School.  Richard took pride in his work as a teacher and delighted in the success of his students.  Richard continued to use his teaching skills during retirement as a volunteer with the Whiz Kids literacy program.  Richard was involved in the local 4-H program, where he taught first aid.  Richard enjoyed conversations with others on his HAM Radio and was a member of the REACT Radio Club.  Richard was an active member of his church, volunteering on the lock-up team and with Handy Helpers, as he could fix anything.  Richard loved helping people and was a Stephen Minister.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Jean West; two children, David (late Gina Kay) West, Brian (Jenny) West; and four grandchildren, Matthew (Ruth) West, Mark West, Kenny Minton, and Ashlynne Minton.  A visitation will take place at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd Mason, Ohio 45040, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:00am-11:00am, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am.  A private burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio.  Remembrances can be made through contributions to Grace Hospice or www.Youthontheair.org .  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.muellerfunerals.com.
