Robert Dell

Robert William Dell, 95 of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.  Bob was born to the late Dr. Ellsworth and Edith (nee Tefft) Dell on Tuesday, January 10, 1928 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and grew up in nearby Sand Lake.

Bob worked for the Sun Oil Company for 38 years in sales, management, human resources, and as Director of Retiree Relations.  His work took his wife Lois and their three children to homes in MI (Detroit, Lansing, and Jackson), PA (Malvern and West Chester), Evansville IN, and Tulsa OK.  After 15 years in their beloved retirement home in Brevard NC, Bob and Lois moved to Cincinnati to be near family.

The Christian Village at Mason has been home for Bob since 2004.  He was known as the “Rose Man” because of the bouquets he provided from his garden, once numbering 90 bushes.  Bob was a true gentleman, and a man of service - volunteering until days before his death delivering newspapers, helping with communion, opening doors for residents.  A man of faith, Bob spent time at Bible studies and church services.  He enjoyed writing and was an avid reader of religion and psychology books.  Bob served on local, state and national boards, including the National Council on Aging.

In his free time, Bob loved golf, fishing, and a good party.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Maxson) Dell, and brothers Gaillard and Howard Dell.

Bob is survived by his children Barbara (Ed) Rider, Reverend Cyndi (Doug) Alte, and Mike (Cherie) Dell, grandchildren Jacob (Erikka) Alte, Amanda (Michael) Koluch, Anne (Jason) Swanson, Katherine (Dan) Burke, Alexandra (Luis Reyes) Dell, Faith Dell and Grace Dell, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, a nephew and five nieces.

Services will be at the Stone Center in the Christian Village at Mason, 411 Western Row Rd.  Mason, OH 45040 on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Visitation is at 10 AM with the Funeral following at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Bob’s name to the International Essential Tremor Foundation or the Christian Village at Mason….
