Roger Neil Rovekamp, Sr., 72 of Mason, passed away on December 22, 2023. Born to Elwood Mark and Virginia Ruth (nee Barkau) Rovekamp on December 15, 1951, in Deer Park, Ohio. Roger was an avid sportsman. He excelled at golf and bowling in particular and has the distinction of bowling two league sanctioned 300 games, one left-handed and one right-handed. He was a loyal Cincinnati sports fan. He possessed a unique ability to perform difficult math problems in his head, a skill he always enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren in fun ways. Roger served in the Army National Guard. He was a family man who enjoyed taking part in ALL his grandchildren’s events. He was a present and loved figure in their lives. Roger never met a stranger, he was personable, kind, and funny. A man of the famous ‘one liner’, a jokester with the most positive attitude. He lived every day to the fullest and made everyone around him feel special.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Virginia Rovekamp, brother, Monte Rovekamp and sister-in-law, Pat Rovekamp. Roger is survived by his children, Maria (Ken) Strunk, Roger Rovekamp Jr, Daniel (Lisa) Rovekamp and Melissa (Curt) Bly grandchildren Will, Ben, Zach, Payton, Lily, Thea, Kingston, Beaumont, Brady, Corinne, Gavin, brother, Tim Rovekamp, sister-in-law, Carol Rovekamp and many more beloved family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd from 5:30-7:00pm with a funeral service at 7:00pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040
A private interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason.
A celebration of Roger Sr will be held on Saturday, January 13th at American Legion Post 194, 401 Reading Rd. Mason, OH 45040 from 5-9pm.
