Roger Smith

Roger Kirk Smith, 84 of Morrow, passed away on November 18, 2022. Born to Charles Halbert and Geneive Ieone (nee Goddard) Smith on August 5, 1938, in Tuscola, Illinois.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and the cherished mother of his children, Linda Joy Powell. He is survived by his loving children, Kirk Matthew (Paula) Smith, Joy Lynn Smith, along with their sister, Lisa Marie. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Daniel Lobaugh, Christopher Lobaugh, Hazel Smith, and Fischer Smith.

A proud and dedicated veteran in the United States Navy, Roger was patriotic and devoted to this great country.

Roger was passionate about many things, including spending time with his family. He enjoyed living near both his children and being able to regularly attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, school and club activities. He was a regular on family ski trips, going along just to watch his grandchildren learn something new.

Always happy to spend time in nature, Roger enjoyed the presence of a large oak tree and the sunshine on his face in the summer. He loved animals and spent hours looking at the beauty God provided him. In recent years, he discovered a hidden talent and passion for coloring, often focusing on the beauty of the natural world he loved so much.

A devout Christian and a deeply spiritual man, Roger lived his life centered around Christ and his family. His open heart, positive outlook and affection for famly made him a truly special friend, father and grandfather. A known “hugger,” Roger’s warm embrace made everything OK.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2 from 4-5pm, with a celebration of life at 5pm, all at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040.
