Ronald Joseph Sterle, affectionately known as "Ronnie Joe," passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Mason, Ohio. Born on February 24, 1938, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he grew up on a family farm that instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. His early years were enriched with experiences that shaped his love for the outdoors, which remained a defining aspect of his character throughout his life.
Ronnie Joe was a dedicated educator and coach, having taught and coached football for many years in the Parma City Schools. He later took on the pivotal role of principal at Greenbriar Middle School until his well-deserved retirement. His impact on the lives of countless students and athletes will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
An accomplished athlete in his own right, he played football at both his high school and Salem College, showcasing not only his talent but also his commitment to teamwork and athletics. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for a life spent giving back to the community through education and coaching.
In addition to his professional achievements, Ronnie Joe cherished time spent with family on the water, creating lasting memories through fishing, skiing, and tubing adventures. His passion for the great outdoors extended to his hobby of birdwatching, further highlighting his kind and welcoming personality.
Cooking was another of his passions, particularly noted for his exceptional perogies and kielbasa. These culinary skills brought joy and warmth to family gatherings, where the spirit of togetherness was always at the forefront.
Ronald proudly built a dream getaway with his late wife, Barbara (nee Sweda) Sterle, beginning in the early 1980s. After her passing, he continued to enhance their beloved Lakehouse, ensuring it remained a cherished retreat for family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Chad (Diana) Sterle; daughter, Shannon Sterle; grandchildren, Autumn and Brayden Sterle; and sister, Joan (Danny) Rockwell. He is also remembered by many loving family members and friends, including his nephew, John Yekel.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Petko) Sterle, and his beloved wife, Barbara Sterle.
A visitation will be held in his honor on March 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service commencing at 5:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, Ohio 45040.
