Ruth E. Carey

Ruth E. Carey (nee Schmidt), 94, of Mason, OH, previously lived in Chesterfield Twp., MI passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020.

Ruth is survived by: her husband of 45 years; John T. Carey, her children; Tom (Joyce) Hicks and Timothy Hicks, grandchildren, Scott (Leslie) Hicks and Allison (Jack) Brown, and great-grandchildren, Anna, Ainsley, Scotty, Penelope, Julian, and Crew,  nephew, Michael Carey, and  friends.

Ruth loved to spend time with her family. She adored her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She was great at keeping in touch with people, even if it was just a call to say that she was thinking of you. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her friends, sitting in her backyard garden, and shopping. She also loved to travel and made many trips to Hilton Head Beach over the years. Ruth was a Registered Nurse, who worked for the City of Detroit and Wayne County, Michigan for more than 42 years. She was also a longtime member of Westminster Church in Detroit, Michigan. Ruth attended Westminster when the church was located on Woodrow Wilson in Detroit.

Due to current restrictions, the family will be having a private graveside service at Washington Cemetery in Croswell, Michigan.
