Sandra Kay Petsch -Peirson (December 6,1946 – December 9,2024) peacefully passed away at Hospice of Cincinnati following a multitude of issues she valiantly and stoically battled.
Sandy was born in Columbus, Ohio to Betty Jeane Brundige and adopted by James Pierson. She was proceeded in passing by her mother and father and first husband Ronald Petsch. Sandy spent her early years in the central Ohio region and later attending The Ohio State University for her undergraduate and master’s degrees in education. Sandy taught in the secondary level of education in the Wapakoneta and Cincinnati areas.
Sandy is survived by her second loving husband, Bill as well as two sisters Debora Badertscher, Sherry Crawford, brother Dr. Dennis Pierson and a sister -in-law Janice Petsch-Godderis. Sandy will be missed by her many nieces and nephews having no children of her own.
Sandy built on her fundamental knowledge in education and went on to have many life accomplishments including Decorating Den representative, flower shop owner, insurance underwriter and collections agent for various local companies.
Her greatest satisfaction came from her involvement with the local woman’s group” The Welcomers’ Club of Northern Cincinnati.” She served in the role of president for the years 2013-2015. She filled several positions in the group over the years and was well known for her active leadership of various subcommittee’s such as dinning-in, book club, lunch bunch, dinning -out and numerous card groups.
Sandy also got a deep degree of satisfaction and pride from starting a local Red Hat’s chapter “Les Chapeaux Rouge” which later became known as “The Purple Gems.” And was active as “Queen” of the group upon her return from South Carolina in 2020 until her passing. Sandy was not one to sit around and filled her retirement years with luncheon and card playing activities.
Sandy’s strong sense of leadership and friendship will be missed by all who knew her.
The family plans on having a memorial ceremony at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd Mason, OH 45040 on Saturday, February 22, 2025 with a gathering from 1:00 – 3:00 PM with a short service to be conducted at 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and share your memories with those present. In leu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
