Shirley Ann Gressel

Shirley A. Gressel (nee Lawyer) , age 89, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Mason Christian Village. Shirley was born Saturday, July 2, 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio to Arthur and Mildred (nee Sebaugh) Lawyer.

In her free time, Shirley enjoyed reading. Her favorite genres were historical fictions and mysteries. She also enjoyed baking desserts, being well known for her cream cheese cupcakes. When Shirley had the opportunity to be outside, she liked to be in her garden, tending to her flowers.

Shirley was fantastic at needlework, passing down many heirlooms. While she focused on the needlework, her late husband, Bill, would create the frames.

Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur and Mildred Lawyer; Husband, William A. "Bill" Gressel; and sister, Rosemary Craig.

Shirley is survived by: children, Dave (Lisa) Gressel, Mike (Sheila Kelly) Gressel, Denise (Brian) Stretcher, Greg (Beth Ann Newman) Gressel and Beth(Mike) Barfield; grandchildren, Adam Gressel, Luke Gressel, Brenden Gressel, Ryan (Lauren) Gressel, Eric (Natalie) Stretcher, Sarabeth Stretcher, Bryan (Kylie) Gressel, Katie (Colt) Smith, Nathan Gressel, Megan Barfield and Justin Barfield and great-grandsons, Luke and Jack Gressel.

Visitation will be held, Thursday July 7, 2022 10:30AM to11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Road, West Chester Township, OH 45069. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Freestore and Foodbank located at 1141 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
