Steve Bebko

August 15, 1941 — April 14, 2024

Stephen Bebko Jr. of Mason, Ohio passed away on April 14, 2024, with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with Parkinsons.  He was 82 years old.

Steve was born in Erie, PA, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth (Burbules) Bebko. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores (Leone) Bebko of Mason, OH.

Steve was well known as an engineer in all facets of life.  He began his engineering career with GE Locomotives as a machinist apprentice and pursued his degree in Industrial Management at Gannon University in Erie, PA. He was most proud of his contributions towards the design and layout of transit car finish coatings and paint, the GE Learning Center, and an engine assembly facility in Grove City, PA.  He transitioned his family and career to GE Aerospace in Cincinnati, OH in 1988.  He looked forward to retirement after 35 years of service.

At home, Steve's preference was to do everything "the right way" and drove his wife crazy over-engineering lots of things around the home such as curtain systems, barns, dog houses, ventilation, electrical items, and other projects.  He used this approach to acquire all sorts of new tools for his collection. He gave freely of his time and talents to help others; his kindheartedness and generous spirit will be missed.  He was the best handyman ever.

His life was made richer by his family and friendships throughout his life. His favorite role was being husband, father, and grandfather.  He brought the same level of commitment to his family as he did his work.

Steve was an avid hunter, enjoyed hunting trips with his sons and good friends, family vacations on lakes of all sizes, always enjoyed owning a boat, and fished when the fish wanted to bite.  He was his kid’s Cub Scout Troop leader, the school’s bus transportation coordinator, enjoyed cross country skiing, gardening, golf, ballroom dancing with wife and friends, his competitive billiards team, and volunteered his time for the Great Parks of Hamilton County, Aronoff Theatre, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and Road Scholar Cincinnati visitors.

He is predeceased by his parents, survived by his wife Dolores (Leone) Bebko and four children, Stephen (Katrin), Anthony (Ryan Henry), Vincent (Kristina) Bebko, and Maria (Matthew)Yost; grandchildren Molly (Joseph) Simpson, Madelyn, Anna, Vincent Bebko, James, and Ruby Yost; sister Catherine (George) Streff and brother James (Catherine) Bebko, as well as many nieces and nephews.
