Susan Bailey

Susan (nee Baird) Bailey , 76 of Mason, Ohio passed away on March 21, 2023. Born to Harrison and Virginia (nee Wetherby) Baird on October 28, 1946 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Susan enjoyed being outdoors, hiking with her son Jason was one of her favorite places to be. Zion National Park and Yellowstone were her favorites. Susan enjoyed walks, wine and shopping with her daughter Melissa. Traveling with her children and grandchildren anywhere warm and tropical brought her joy.

Susan was an avid reader with a passion for ensuring books were affordable and accessible. Susan opened a used book store, Complete Works , in Springboro, Ohio in 1994 to explore this endeavor.

Susan was a ture caregiver of her own family, her friends, and all animals. Susan was an accomplished registered nurse with a MBA in Hospital Administration. Her career span includes experiences as an emergency room nurse in her early years,  nurse supervisor and Director of Nursing in several Xenia and Cincinnati retirement homes, including the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) andVitas (Hospice Care) and culminating her full time career as a Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer. Upon partial retirement, she continued to serve the elderly as a nurse supervisor in a Hyde Park, Cincinnati nursing home.

Preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Virginia Baird.

Susan is survived by her children, Melissa (David) Buckalew and Jason (Holly) McClure and four grandchildren, Will and Sam Buckalew and Brooks and Liam McClure.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25th from 930-1030AM with a funeral service at 1030-11:00AM all at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040. Interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Ohio. Celebration of Life Luncheon following at Melissa's residence. All are welcome.
