Susan Elizabeth Green Scott

September 4, 1947 – April 15, 2023

Susie Scott passed away on April 15, 2023 at age 75 in Mason, Ohio. She was the only child of Lowell and Carol (Niemi) Green and grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana. After attending public schools in Brownsburg, Susie graduated from Butler University in 1969 and later received a Master’s Degree from Indiana University in 1972. In 1970, she married Bradford E. Scott, who survives her. They spent most of the first ten years of their marriage in Germany where Brad was serving in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt and Berlin. On their return to the U.S. they settled in Cincinnati. Susie loved journalism and writing of all kinds and edited newsletters for several organizations she volunteered for. Her interests included travel, her Finnish heritage, ham radio and, most of all, Barbershop singing in Sweet Adelines choruses. She joined Queen City Chorus in 1984 and then Cincinnati Sound Chorus, where she was very active until her health declined.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and is survived, in addition to her husband, by her sister-in-law Carolyn Scott and husband John Whisler and two nieces, Ellen Whisler and Sally Whisler Nourani. She loved and was loved by many cats over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road in Mason on Tuesday, April 25 at 10:30 AM, with visitation before and after. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ( www.jdrf.org ), the SPCA of Hamilton County ( www.spcacincinnati.org/donate-now ) or a charity of the donor’s choice. Susie’s family expresses their deep appreciation to the many chorus friends who have helped Susie over the years and to the staff at Artis Senior Living of Mason for their loving care.
