Thomas Edwin McCreadie, of Somerville, Ohio, passed away following a tragic accident Saturday, May 20. 2023 at the age of 71. He was born August 13, 1951 in Hamilton, Ohio to Edwin Henry and Ferne (nee Rhoades) McCreadie.
A hard worker, Tom earned the nickname "Greedy McCreadie" working at AK Steel. Sometimes he would work multiple shifts in a row either before or after working at the farm. He finally retired from there as a truck driver.
With a special touch, Tom could turn just about any horse around. He truly enjoyed working the horses, not having lawn ornaments. As an owner of Liberty Carriage alongside his wife, Julie, Tom provided many carriage rides at weddings and local events.
Tom had a smile that could turn the worst day around. He never met a stranger and truly enjoyed learning from others. But what brought Tom the most joy was being with his family and friends. He was that guy you could always depend on to lend a helping hand before you even asked.
The world has lost a great one, we are all better for having known him. Tom's legacy will be forever loved and cherished.
Tom was preceded in death by: parents, Edwin "Bud" and Ferne McCreadie; brother-in-law, Gene Davis; and father-in-law, Paul Winkler.
Tom is survived by: wife, Julie (nee Winkler) McCreadie; children, Kellen Campbell and Chelsea Carpenter; sisters, Marianne Davis and Connie (Keith) Back; mother-in-law, Ernestine Winkler; brothers-in-law, Roy (Janis) Winkler, Randy (Shirley) Winkler, and Rusty Winkler; sisters-in-law, Jenny (Don) Swartley and Judy Bailey; nieces and nephews, Tina (Kevin) Stacy, Jennifer Carrell, Tony (Elicia) Bales, Tara Winkler, Steve Swartley, and Amanda (Joe) Frilling; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving family members and friends.
