Thomas G. 'Tom' Sample

UNITED STATES NAVY VETERAN

Thomas G. "Tom" Sample, of Evendale, passed away at the age of 77. He was born August 25, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Curtis F. and Gladys M. (nee Williams) Sample.

Tom was whisked away to Heaven on February 4th, 2021 after a short illness, surrounded by family. Tom retired from Ford Motor Company in 2007 where he perfected his welding craft. He served in the United States Navy from 1962-1967. He was also a former Shriner and dedicated patron to the VFW Post 4369. Tom was a man of few words, but his silence was never misunderstood as weakness. Tom had a love for any body of water, even the sound of rain on a tin roof. Tom had a life-long passion for fishing and relaxing on his boat in which was well-deserved. Tom also adored the music of Celine Dion and would never turn down a hamburger. He lived a life of simplicity but he lived it on his terms. He will be sorely missed by many.

We shall not worry any longer as Tom is fishing with his friends that have been waiting for him on the other side. They have a lot of catching up to do.

Tom was preceded in death by: parents, Curtis and Gladys Sample; and sisters, Lois (Bob) Bryant and Emily (Bill) Condon.

Tom is survived by: wife, Carol (nee Brown) Sample; daughters, Lisa (Tim) Brown, Cindy (Tim) Swafford, and Chasity (Bryan) Fletcher; grandchildren, Elaine (Chad) Montgomery, Kari Williamson, Barak Williamson, Abby Fletcher, Cane Denny, and Ryan Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Logan Montgomery; sister, Edie Jernigen; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
