Ursula M. Zahn

Ursula M. Zahn (nee Warnken), formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the age of 83 in Waynesville, North Carolina. She was born Sunday, November 1, 1936 in Germany.

Filled with determination from a young age, Ursula boarded a boat at the age of 20 to visit America. After one month in the states, she called her younger sister to say she had fallen in love and would be staying. You would never hear a negative word from Ursula about the hardships she had faced, only sharing positive experiences. Her smile was contagious and could light up a room.

With a passion for cooking, Ursula enjoyed preparing traditional German meals for her family and friends. A well manicured lawn highlighted her amazing gardens. She loved mixing perennials and annuals to keep her yard speckled with color.

Following her retirement from Bethesda North, Ursula relocated to Asheville North Carolina where she lived near her son Roland and his family for the last 20 years. She enjoyed traveling with favorite destinations including Seattle, New York, and Germany or anywhere else she could visit family. Ursula will forever be cherished by those that knew and loved her.

Beloved wife of the late Horst John Zahn; devoted mother of Dieter (Cindy) Zahn, Roland (Jennifer) Zahn, and Peter (Colleen) Zahn; loving grandmother of Nicole (Matthew Burghall) Zahn, Matthew Zahn, Logan Zahn, Olivia Zahn, Alexandra Zahn, Julia Zahn, and Stefan Zahn; great-grandmother of Laylani Smith; dear sister of Rosemarie (Frank) Nassauer; and cherished family member and friend to many others.

Funeral Services will be held privately for the family.
