Violet Josephine Waigand

Violet Josephine Waigand, 85, passed away peacefully June 1, 2024, in West Chester, Ohio.  Vi was born to the late Louis and Elleanor (Bezold) Zinser on August 4, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Violet graduated from Hughes High School, class of 1956, where she played clarinet in the band.  Following school at Good Samaritan Hospital, she practiced nursing. She met her love, Ron, at Coney Island. They married in 1961. Dancing together was one of their lifelong passions, as well as hiking, traveling and bicycling. Vi and Ron became loving, devoted parents in 1965, 1969 and 1971. Violet was active in Right to Life, helped direct a pregnancy center in Hamilton, Ohio, and was a long-time active member of St. John Catholic Church. She later taught job skills to students with learning disabilities at Lakota High School. Violet is survived by her children Reggie (Angela) Waigand, Karen (late Doug) Rush, Jim (Marcia Strickland) Waigand and niece Sandy Campbell.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Rd, Mason, Ohio, 45040 on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00am with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Franciscan University of Steubenville.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.muellerfunerals.com.
