William “Bill” Ball, age 82, passed away on October 4, 2024.

Bill was born on May 12, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late George and Margaret Ball (nee Glick). He was preceded in death by his siblings: brother James L. Ball, sister Sharon (Matt) Mulvaney, mother and father-in-law Rita and Bud Farfsing, brothers-in-law Chuck Farfsing and Vaughn Connor.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Kathy Ball (nee Farfsing). Children: Julie (Kevin) Sphar, Jeff (Jen) Ball, Brian (Abbie) Ball. Grandchildren; Ellie (Brendan Kerr) Sphar, Abby Sphar, Charley Ball, Audrey Ball, Kaelyn Ball and Brendyn Ball. His brothers- and sisters-in-law: Linda Ball, Donna Connor, Nancy (Don) Stewart, Patty (Roger) Lawson, Joe (Peggy) Farfsing and Jim Farfsing. Also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill graduated from McNicholas High School in 1960. Soon after, he started working in the shop at Steelcraft, while attending night school at the University of Cincinnati. When he knew he was going to be drafted, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for 4 years that included two tours in Vietnam. After completing his service in the military, Bill returned to complete his coursework at UC where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing. He continued to work various jobs at Steelcraft, where he met Kathy in 1970, and they married in 1972. He loved sales and eventually worked his way up to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. After many years of dedication and travel on the job he loved, he retired in July 2011.

Bill enjoyed hosting family and friends at his river house on the Ohio in New Richmond. He purchased it in 1994 and spent many years restoring it inside and out. It truly was a labor of love, and Bill took great pride in his handy work and everything about that house. There he celebrated many milestones and events as the grill master and cooking his specialty, Beaufort Stew, for family and friends. He also enjoyed his many trips to Alaska fishing for salmon and halibut with his good buddies. They always had amazing adventures and came home with lots of fish and crazy stories.

In Bill’s later years, after his grandchildren were born, his world revolved around them. He enjoyed being their PaPa Bill more than anything. Best of all was time spent at the beach with the grands and our grown children in Destin, FL. Our “happy place.”

Bill’s family would also like to thank Artis Senior Living of Mason for the wonderful care, love and attention he received while a resident there.

There will be a Celebration of Bill’s life at Cartridge Brewing, 1411 Grandin Road, Maineville, OH 45039 on October 17 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Artis Senior Living Life Enrichment Program, 6200 Snider Road, Mason, OH 45040
