William H. "Bill" Maier, of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully February 22, 2021 at the age of 76. He was born December 2, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Bill met the love of his life, Marilyn Sue Verble when she was in the eighth grade and Bill was a freshman in high school. The two were married on October 23, 1965 in St. Louis. He later received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Bradley University in 1968. In the summer of 1968, Bill enlisted and was ordered to basic training with the United States Army where he served with the Army Reserve until 1974.
Born with a servant's heart, Bill spent his life giving back to society in a multitude of ways. He spent countless hours volunteering with several organizations such as the annual ATP Tour professional tennis tournament. Bill coached many different sports teams for all three of his sons. He had a passion for baseball which he passed on to his children where Bill spent many years with Knothole Baseball in District 5 . If he had received a kindness or favor, Bill was sure to pay it forward with another act of goodwill and generosity.
With a fondness for the classics, Bill purchased a navy blue 1937 Packard 115c. It did not take him long to become a loyal and active member of the The Packard Automobile Classics National Club going on to win the Key Man award for their national meet. He will be forever treasured by all that knew and loved him.
Bill was preceded in death by: father, Herman William Maier; mother, Lola (nee Hanhardt) Keller; and wife, Marilyn Sue Maier.
Bill is survived by: sons, Kurt (Kristen) Maier, Brent (Heidi) Maier, and Mark (Sarah) Maier; grandchildren, Andrew Maier, Will Maier, Kaitlyn Maier, Joey Maier, Jack Maier, Cole Maier, Griffin Maier, Ally Maier, and Zach Maier; loving family members and close friends.
Visitation will be Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. The State of Ohio requires face masks/coverings to be worn and social distancing guidelines to be followed.
Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home with limited seating due to the social distancing requirements. The interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
