William "Skip" Richards

William "Skip" Richards, of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Otterbein Lebanon. He was born Sunday, February 14, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Herman Leo and Della Irene (nee Oles) Richards.

One of six children, William has been affectionately known as Skip almost his entire life. He worked hard as a mechanic/owner at "Richards Car Care" to provide for his wife and six children. It was often joked that he should have been a chef and will forever be remembered for his spaghetti and meatballs as well as his many desserts. Combining his love of cooking and children's sports, Skip could often be found feeding the community in the school cafeteria, the local Elk's Club, or out of his RV known as "Skip's Chuckwagon".

Attending his grandchildren's games, he was affectionately known as "Grandpa Skip" to all he met. It did not take long once moving from Ashtabula to Mason to connect with people in the local community and form new bonds. One of his proudest accomplishments, in addition to his children, was his ability to care for his beloved wife of 53 years, allowing her to stay at home during her Alzheimer's Disease progression.

William was preceded in death by: parents, Herman and Della Richards; wife, Marilyn (nee Faulkner) Richards; brothers, Herman Richards, Jim Richards and Ed Richards; and a sister-in-law, Bev Richards.

William is survived by: children, Lavonne (Bob Kerzman) Richards, Dale (Eric Justian) Richards, Dianne (Tony) Silva, Linda (Tim Hurley) Richards, Donna Richards, and Paul (Carolyn) Richards; grandchildren, Tim (Lyndsey) Sloan, David Sloan, Kaitlin Lang, Stacy Silva, Jennifer Silva, Michael Silva, Megan (Brian) Pietrodangelo, Jessica (Travis) Williamson, Catherine Richards and Will Richards; brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Richards and Tom (Karen) Richards; sister-in-law, Rosemary Richards; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
