US AIR FORCE VETERAN
Nolan S. Bagadiong, age 48, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Thursday, July 27, 2017 , after a courageous two year battle with appendix cancer. He was born to Nick and Zeny Bagadiong on October 2, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Nolan was the loving husband of Cherie (Fenter) Bagadiong, devoted father of Jacob and Grace Bagadiong, dear son of Nick and Zeny Bagadiong and son-in-law of John (Bonnie) and the late Barbara Fenter, beloved brother of Neil Bagadiong and brother-in-law of Patty (Tom) Basti, Jeff (Marci) Fenter and the late Susan Fenter, awesome uncle of Daniel and Joe Basti and Allie, Emily and Chris Fenter, also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and caring friends.
Nolan grew up as a Navy brat but graduated from Warren Central High School in 1986 and considered Indianapolis, Indiana, his home. He attended Purdue University and earned a B.S degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1990. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation and served 7 years for his country at McConnell AFB, Kansas, and Andrews AFB, Maryland. His assignments as an intelligence officer and systems specialist allowed him to meet and work with some amazing people and he was very proud of his time and service in the Air Force. He also earned an M.S. degree in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland but was always a Boilermaker at heart. He worked at Fidelity Investments since 1998 in a variety of roles, made some great friends, and ended his career as a Director of End User Computing. To say Nolan was a computer genius is putting it mildly.
Nolan loved to cook and thought of himself as a master chef. He enjoyed all kinds of music as this was what fed his soul on a daily basis. He was an avid runner, having accomplished his goal of completing a half-marathon less than a year before he was diagnosed. His true love was the ocean and was a certified dive master. He found a second home with the Central Coast Scuba Dive Center and went on his annual trip to the Caribbean with this group of wonderful friends. He loved turtles and rays, swam with the sharks, and was terrified but thrilled to swim with a whale shark the size of a bus. He was also a huge sports fan and a lifelong Colts football fan.
He married the love of his life in 1991 and spent the next 26 years with Cherie, traveling, having fun, and building a life together. His best and most important adventure started on September 2, 1999, when Jacob was born and Nolan became a dad. When Grace arrived about 2 years later, his family was complete and his life was fulfilled. During his last week, he told Cherie that of all the things he wanted people to remember about him, he wanted to be known as an active, devoted, caregiving, and fun-loving dad who did his best to raise two beautiful people to be the best versions of themselves and to know that they were loved and cherished. He was so proud to be Jacob's and Grace's dad.
