Marcia Karow

June 8, 1946 — June 25, 2024

Marcia Ruth (nee Stifel) Karow, 78 of Mason, passed away on June 25th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Marcia was born to Michael[1]  and Stella (nee Kaczorowski) Stifel on June 8, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio.

Marcia was a selfless, strong and beautiful matriarch for her family. She was endlessly devoted to the needs of her children and grandchildren, demonstrated true love to her husband and gave as a loyal friend like no other. She cared for her family, her friends, her co-workers, and her church community deeply and always put others first.  She was a passionate nurse for many years and maintained lifelong friendships with those she attended nursing school with.

She was a devout Catholic, attending both St. John and St. Susanna throughout her adult life.  She attended bible study, baked for bingo nights, served as a Eucharistic minister, and spiritually participated in Christ Renews His Parish.

Marcia loved the beach, traveling on cruises with her friends, creating beautiful stamping cards/gifts and bowling with work friends and family. She loved following the Cincinnati Reds, the Detroit Redwings and the Toledo Mudheads.  She was an avid reader and created lovely gardens     .  She especially loved watching her hummingbird friends visiting her feeders throughout the day.  She was a wonderful cook and adored sharing meals with those that she loved.

Marcia’s biggest accomplishment was being the absolute best Mom and Mi-Mi she possibly could.  From the moment her first child was born, she dedicated herself to raising a beautiful, close-knit family.  She filled the home with fun and laughter and built traditions that will live on for many years to come.  She made every holiday and birthday incredibly special and always made sure her children knew that they had a loving and safe place to come home to, even in adulthood.  She never missed a school or sporting event and was, without a doubt, her kids’ number one fan.  As her children grew into adults, she became their treasured friend and confidant.

Marcia’s heart grew even larger when her grandchildren were born.  She cherished each and every one of them and was a daily part of their lives.  She was so very proud of their accomplishments and adored watching them grow up.  She never hesitated to give them the gift of her time and always ensured her time with them was special.  Her beauty and spirt will truly live on through them.

Marcia courageously battled cancer. She had the utmost respect for her Oncologist and care teams throughout her journey.  She was a favorite patient of many of the inpatient nurses, aides, environmental services staff and doctors.  She treated them with dignity and respect as she had once walked in their shoes.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Natasha Karow, and siblings, Robert (Dzvinka) Stifel, Mary Jane (Fred) Dzienny and Margie (Robert) Syzmanski.

Marcia is survived by her dear husband, Otto Karow; her loving children, Steve Karow, Nicki (Chad Haddox) Cummings Haddox and Michelle (Anthony) Eversole; her adoring grandchildren, Beckett, Ella, Austin, Sierra, Matthew, Joshua, Maya, Adrian, Corey (Lizzie) and Marsha; her “plus” grandson, Noah, as well as her sweet dog, Cocoa.  Marcia is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, from 5:30-7:30pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, OH 45040. Marcia requested attendees wear “beach themed” attire.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:00AM at St Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Rd, Mason, OH 45404.  A luncheon to celebrate Marcia’s life will follow at St. Susanna.
