Michael Louis Stockman

September 20, 1947 — February 15, 2021

Michael Louis Stockman, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, February 15, 2021 at the age of 73.  He was born Saturday, September 20, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Louis and Mildred (nee Gableman) Stockman.

Born to be a hero in many capacities, Mike served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Having served in Cu Chi, Vietnam, Mike was discharged as a Staff Sergeant.  He received; a Bronze Star (for individual heroic act), two Purple Hearts, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm Device, and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal Unit Citation, First Class.  His unwavering patriotism was admired by many.

Following his service, Mike returned to Cincinnati to begin his 30-year career at GE.  He met and married the love of his life, Nancy Jo Mizner, and together they built a home that was filled with lots of love and laughter.  A selfless man by nature, he was constantly putting others needs before his own.

Affectionately known as “Pops” to many of his children’s friends, Mike coached several different youth baseball teams.  He enjoyed a good round of golf, playing softball, or just having a beer with his buddies.

Mike will forever be remembered for the pool parties he would host and for flipping the “bird” but most of all, for being one of the kindest and funniest men you could ever meet.  He will be forever cherished by those that loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by: parents, Louis and Mildred Stockman; wife, Nancy Jo Stockman; daughter, Jenny Chandler; son, David Chandler; sister, Lois Upton; and a brother, David Stockman.

Mike is survived by: sons, Mark (Barb) Chandler and Eric (LeeAnn) Stockman; grandsons, Mark Chandler, Justin Chandler, and Zachary Chandler; great-grandsons, Carson Chandler and Zachary Chandler; several loving nieces and nephews; and many loving family members and friends.

Due to the current restrictions, services are pending.  Until we can get together to celebrate this special man, please have a toast to his memory (preferably with a Stroh’s beer).  HOORAH.
